ECI is now The Arc of Southwest Alabama.
Our agency will remain an educational center for independence in Washington County. We will continue to work tirelessly for the adults in Washington County who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our mission, staff, and Board of Directors will not change. But being a part of The Arc includes our agency into an established national family that advocates locally and nationally for the people we serve.
With changes to Medicaid, come changes with the ID/DD Medicaid waiver. Also changes to Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security, Medicare and civil rights laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are critical for people with I/DD and their families, providing benefits, supports, and civil rights protections that help make community living possible. These federal programs provide the key to community living and inclusion for people with I/DD across the nation. In 2018, The Arc calls on all advocates to join us in reaching out to the President, Congress, Governors, and state legislators to educate them and to urge them to preserve – not cut -- these essential programs and civil rights laws.

Ways to Give
The Arc has made significant progress over our 60-year history and with your help we can do more. The Arc provides more direct supports and services to individuals and families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities than any other disability organization in the country. Help us to:
- Promote the rights of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that they have access to the supports and services they need to live in their family homes, to succeed in school and to engage in all childhood experiences.
- Protect and strengthen the opportunities that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have to lead full and independent lives, free from poverty and with ready access to whatever services and supports they need.
- Promote the respect and acceptance that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as equal members of society, deserve from the general public.
In addition to a monetary donation which can be made safely and securely online, there are more ways you can support The Arc to help make a profound impact. Learn more about donating stock, monthly giving, matching gifts, tribute gifts and car donations.
